School History
After World War II, Poland became a People's Republic ruled
by communists. Poles who fought in the Polish Armed Forces in the West quickly
realised that their path back to their homeland was closed.
Polish families who settled in Great Britain felt the need
to preserve their national and cultural identity. Parishes, associations and
schools began to be established. The Polish School Slough is one of them and
one of the oldest in Great Britain.

In search of my place
Thanks to the efforts of the parish priest in Slough, Karol Świętoń, children attend classes at the Polish school in the Iver camp. A year later, the first Parents' Committee is established in Slough, which provides education at St. Anthony's School on Farnham Road
Finally our own school in Slough!
After the closure of the camp in Great Bower Wood, the PMS branch is moved to Slough. The first president and guardian of the school is Priest Świętoń. Daniel Szwajkowski is responsible for organising the school's work.
Stay on watch and sing
A Cub Scout group is organised at the school, followed by
Scout groups.
The Stanisław Moniuszko Polish Choir is founded, led by a conductor from London.
We have a name!
Up until now the School had no distinctive name, the then director Danuta Wojciechowicz proposed naming it after Henryk Sienkiewicz. As you already know, the proposal was accepted.
For everyone
The school gradually expands the scope of education. Now we have our own nursery, 6 years of primary school, a class for children from mixed marriages, 4 years of secondary school, ending with the GCSE exam, and then also A-level.
Moving, moving
Up until now, lessons have been held at St. Anthony's School on Farnham Rd. in Slough. Our numbers are growing, so we teach in two buildings. We were at St. Joseph's School on Shaggy Calf Lane, the Club premises (now the Polish Association) on Stoke Rd and Orchard School. As Principal Wojciechowicz recalls, "I was a fence-jumping manager."
and another one
Slough parish becomes a school stronghold for 12 years at a time of financial hardship and low pupil numbers.
A-level champions
Our student receives first prize for achieving the best Polish A-level grade in the whole of England. This excellent result is not an exception - we have managed to maintain a 100% pass rate for years.
